With 8 hours of practical, hands-on training, you'll work on addressing and correcting any driving faults. This training not only enhances your driving skills but also teaches you how to analyse and explain driving techniques effectively, a key skill for future instructors. Travel time for training are on average 30 minutes to 60 minutes, this can be longer if you live in a more rural area. We will buddy you up with another My Four Wheels Trainee when possible.
Join 20 hours of expert-led online sessions designed to prepare you for Part 3. Delivered by ADI training specialists, these sessions cover essential teaching standards, helping you assess and guide learner drivers effectively.
These hours count toward your required 40 hours of Part 3 training. By completing them during Part 2, you'll fast-track your progress—so as soon as you pass Part 2, you can jump straight into your in-car training.
Access a library of high-quality training videos tailored for Part 2. These videos cover common challenges, best practices, and advanced techniques, allowing you to continue learning and refining your skills outside of in-car sessions.
After completing your test, you'll receive detailed feedback on your performance. Your Trainer will discuss the results with you and guide you on the next steps to ensure continuous improvement and readiness for the next phase.
The cost of the Part 2 test is £111 per attempt, with a maximum of three attempts allowed.
Part 3 focuses on developing your teaching skills, enabling you to instruct and coach learner drivers effectively. This phase combines theory, practical application, and test preparation to help you succeed as an instructor.
A dedicated mentor will be available to guide you through this phase. Whether you need clarification on challenging topics or want personalised feedback on your progress, the tutor ensures you stay on track and motivated.
This handbook provides invaluable advice on how to teach and coach effectively. It explores communication techniques, lesson planning, and student engagement strategies, ensuring you're prepared to deliver high-quality instruction.
Part 3 of becoming a driving instructor focuses on 20 hours of in-car training, where trainees refine their teaching techniques and learn to adapt to various learner drivers' needs. This hands-on training emphasizes delivering structured lessons, assessing learners' progress, and ensuring road safety. We will buddy you up with another My Four Wheels Trainee when possible
Learn at your convenience with unlimited access to a collection of video resources created by an ORDIT-registered senior Trainer. These videos cover advanced teaching methods, real-world challenges, and strategies to manage diverse learner needs.
Comprehensive preparation ensures you're ready for test day. This includes mock teaching sessions, feedback on your instructional style, and tips on how to demonstrate your teaching competence to the examiner.
Following your Part 3 test, you'll receive detailed feedback on your performance. The Trainer will help you identify any areas for further improvement and guide you on how to build a successful career as a driving instructor.
The cost of the Part 3 test is £111 per attempt, with a maximum of three attempts permitted.
Did you know you can start earning money while training to become a driving instructor? By obtaining a Trainee Driving Instructor Licence, you can teach real pupils under supervision, gain hands-on experience, and develop your teaching skills—all while working towards full qualification.
Here's how it works:
1. Pass Part 1: The driving instructor theory test.
2. Pass Part 2: The practical driving test. You will then be contacted by our Trainee License Manager who will arrange your start date, car, area of working all the information you will need to get started. Should you require a car through My Four Wheels, a fully refundable (providing the car comes back in good condition) deposit of £500 will be due before car delivery
3. After completing these steps, along with 20 hours of in-car training and 20 hours of online classroom sessions at part 3, you will be fully equipped to start learning and earning. This is an excellent way to fast-track your career, gain confidence in your abilities, and learn on the job.
4. When you are on a trainee license, you must receive at least 20 hours of additional training, My Four Wheels provides 10 hours of free online classroom sessions to contribute towards the 20, the other 10 will be paid by you, directly to your Trainer at an approximate £40 per hour (location dependant).
Trainee License Cost - £140 (lasts for 6 months, can renew for £140 for another 6 months if required)
